Q Oak’s Modular Factory: How Your Kitchen Gets Made (Process & Timelines)

Most people never see where their kitchen is made. You choose a design in a studio, you see a 3D render, and a few weeks later boxes arrive at your flat. What happens in between decides how your kitchen looks on day one and how it holds up after a few Bangalore monsoons. This page takes you inside the Q Oak modular factory, our modular kitchen factory in Bangalore, and walks you through it.

Quick answer: Q Oak Interiors makes its modular kitchens and wardrobes in its own 20,000 sq ft factory in JP Nagar 7th Phase, Bangalore, which opened in August 2026 with German-made Biesse and Homag machines. Carcasses are built in BWP plywood with no MDF or particle board, eligible modular work is delivered within 45 days of design sign-off, and our interiors carry a 15-year warranty.

Why we make kitchens in a factory, not on your site

A carpenter-built kitchen is cut, glued and finished inside your home. A modular kitchen is cut and finished on machines, then brought to your home ready to fit. For a Bangalore apartment, that difference shows up in four ways:

Cleaner edges and tighter joints

Machine-cut panels come out square, and edge banding goes on under pressure and heat. Hand-applied edging is where moisture usually gets in first.

Less dust, noise and mess at your flat

Most apartment associations limit work hours and noisy work. With panels made off-site, the work at your home is mostly fitting.

Faster installation

Because the cutting and finishing are already done, site work moves faster than a full carpentry job.

Easier repairs later

Each panel is made to a drawing, so a damaged shutter can be remade to the same size.

That’s an average of about 41 days across eight homes. If your project includes civil work such as retiling, moving plumbing or shifting electrical points, that usually runs before or alongside the factory work and can add time. Your designer will tell you at sign-off. To hear how these handovers went from the families themselves, read our client reviews.

The plywood question: MR, BWR or BWP?

Plywood grade is the one spec that matters most in a Bangalore kitchen, because the sink base and the area around the hob see water every day. Under the Indian standard for plywood (IS 303) you’ll mostly see three grades:

GradeWhat it meansWhere it fits
MR (moisture resistant)Handles humidity, not standing waterWardrobes and dry storage
BWR (boiling water resistant)Better moisture resistance than MRCabinets away from water
BWP (boiling waterproof)The highest water resistance of the threeKitchens, sink bases and wet zones

Q Oak uses BWP plywood for its modular interiors and doesn’t use MDF or particle board anywhere in them. Whoever builds your kitchen, ask to see the grade stamp on the actual sheets going into it.

What to check when you visit a factory (ours included)

Our factory is open Monday to Sunday, 10:30 am to 8:30 pm. Call 099861 55595 before you come. Wherever you go, these are the things worth looking at:

1

The stamp on the plywood

Grade and brand should be printed on the sheet. Ask which sheets go into kitchens.

2

Edge banding on the hidden edges

Turn a finished panel over. The edges that face the wall should be sealed too, not just the ones you see.

3

How the sink base is protected

Ask what goes under and around the sink to handle leaks.

4

Hardware brands

Hinges, channels and lift-ups should be from a named brand with its own warranty. Brands we work with, shown on our homepage, include Blum for hardware and CenturyPly and Greenply for plywood.

5

Labels on finished panels

Each panel should be labelled to a drawing, so installers aren't guessing on site.

6

A finished unit

Open the shutters. Check that gaps are even and doors close softly.

Why a Bangalore factory helps a Bangalore kitchen

Being close to your home matters more than it sounds. Our factory is in JP Nagar, a short drive from our JP Nagar studio, and it makes the units for homes across the city, including our Whitefield clients. Keeping manufacturing in Bangalore means designers, the factory team and site installers can coordinate directly, and if a panel needs remaking it doesn’t have to travel from another state.

Bangalore’s long monsoon and humid kitchens are also why we care about sealed edges and BWP plywood. Those two details decide whether a sink cabinet swells in its second year.

Warranty and after-sales

Our interiors come with 15 years of after-sales service and warranty. Ask for the written warranty terms with your quote so you know exactly what’s covered. If a factory-made unit ever needs attention, call the factory on 099861 55595 or the studio that handled your home.
